True story: My stepdad dropped a box of his old Playboys on us. None of us really understand why. They were 70s era, so I tried to sell them on Ebay. No one wanted them. The S.O. did not want them in our house. Even the teen boy seemed uninterested. They went to recycling.
The ads inside may be worth more than the magazines. The older, the better. My personal favorites are the sports star with a pack of smokes in his locker. Car ads too.
"I’m okay with people in general not wanting to buy old porn." You must have not looked at much besides the photos. The articles in a typical Playboy then were higher quality than today. In fact, that was the joke about Playboys. People would say they bought it for the reading.
Somebody snatched up the issue with the John Lennon interview (for obvious reasons) but the rest of the stack just sat there and wound up in the trash after our yard sale.
At least a John Lennon interview was probably a good read. I saw a blurb on an 80's cover that said, "Cocaine: How Bad Is It, Really?" A yard sale was a good idea, though. I tried selling them on Facebook Marketplace but they were removed for violating their rules. That was the closest I got to a yard sale, and it was a bummer because I figured that would have been a good place to unload them.

That may be the result. Or wait another 20 years.

I like your idea of putting them in the woods. I lived in those days of secret stashes of porn.
