Yeah, the song is in the same family as "Gangsta's Paradise" and "Eye of the Tiger" where they are more popular than the movie that they appeared in. But as someone who was trying to pick people up in the mod-00'd, maybe I should have tried some of these.
I left one of those b-action streaming channels on one time, and a movie started with the ENTIRETY of "Eye of the Tiger" played over the opening credits -- the MOVIE was also called "Eye Of The Tiger". It blew my mind that someone loved "Eye of the Tiger" from "Rocky III" that not only did they poach the song, but they built a WHOLE MOVIE (starring Gary Busey!) around it. I think about this entirely too much.
I don't remember much of this movie except when Depp was Depp back in those days I would watch anything he was in! And Charlie Chaplin scene was great!
Depp's Sam really does feel only a couple of steps removed from a mid-00's pick-up artist.
Also, this movie, as ridiculous as it is, did bring up "(I'm Gonna Be) 500 Miles", so maybe it was all worth it?
