If a Podcast Falls in the Middle of the Woods...
For anyone who reads my posts to the end, you see that I always hype three things: my podcast, my comic, and my teepublic store, because, money.
I always link to our actual podcast website because that seems like the thing to do, but like most podcasts, we are hosted “wherever you get your podcasts.” Recently, one of those places. Anchor, was rechristened “Spotify for Podcasters,” and with that name change came a couple of other changes. One of them being that a podcast is now required to reach a certain number of listens before you can record an ad. So, we all listen to podcasts and they all have a few ads, so we all know that’s how podcasters make any money. Of course, we do it for the sheer joy of it, but people still need money to “keep the lights on,” as they say in the biz. The goal isn’t really even to make money, but to not lose money on it would be pretty cool.
So I thought with this post I would just make a list of some of my favorite episodes that are available on Spotify for Podcasters, and if you are interested, my hope is that you will click the link and check some of them out. The good news is that you don’t even have to buy anything.
Side-note: Since my friends and I have been doing this podcast way longer than Spotify has been around, most of these are from the last couple years, so I’m sparing you from the early ones where my microphone (and editing skills) were pretty low quality. Not that things have improved too much, but like the name says, we’re just “ordinary gentlemen.” And so, on with my list:
After the talented Monkee passed away in December of 2021, we brought on good friend and Monkees fan Chris Kelley to help us pay tribute to him.
In December of 2020, we had the pleasure of talking to the “almost famous” geek icon Flint Dille, author of The Gamesmaster: My Life in the '80s Geek Culture Trenches with G.I. Joe, Dungeons & Dragons, and The Transformers as well as author of our childhoods, and keeper of hidden geek memorabilia.

We actually were lucky enough to get Flint back again for more Transformers talk; the follow-up to Transformers: The Movie, the five episode Five Faces of Darkness mini-series.
Sensing a theme here? We talked to another creator from our childhood in Buzz Dixon, who wrote so many of our favorite animated shows I can’t even list them. But the main one began with “G” and ended with “Joe.”
We usually do episodes on movies or TV shows, or James Bond, but sometimes we just do random topics, so this one is about the olden days of in-person shopping, specifically in malls. So you don’t have to be a fan of anything to get into this one. You just had to have bought something.
We decided to tackle our favorite Looney Tunes episodes with this one. Also, some of the more controversial episodes that don’t really fly these days.
Every October we do at least one episode on a Universal horror movie. This past year, we tackled this classic featuring two of the biggies.
I know six is kind of a weird number, and I had originally thought I would stop at five, but I thought I should put a movie episode on here, since that’s what we normally do. But we also cover seasons of What We Do in the Shadows and Curb Your Enthusiasm, and we did Watch-along episodes of our favorite Star Trek movies (#trekkingthroughtrek), and like I said earlier, we do a lot of James Bond episodes (#boundingthroughbond), so we cover a lot of ground (We’re almost at 500 episodes!). I’m betting there’s something in there you are into. And even if there isn’t, hey, we’re funny guys. Here’s the main page link again if you want to pick one you want to listen to.
Thanks for checking the podcast and this Substack out! Love you all!

What if, to spare you pain, I wrote my own letter about podcasts over at claynferno.substack.com?
